Project Summary

Green Web Sydney is an initiative of the combined Sydney Regional Organisations of Councils (ROCs) that promotes the establishment of a green web of native vegetation to protect, conserve and enhance remnant bushland in the Sydney region. In 2000, Green Web Sydney secured funding from the Natural Heritage Trust to establish a devolved grants program for local councils. The devolved grants program operated by providing funds to Sydney's local Councils to undertake biodiversity and revegetation initiatives recommended in the Green Web Sydney Action Plan.

The devolved grants program successfully funded 20 local councils in Sydney to undertake revegetation and regeneration works in their areas, with a goal to ultimately achieving the aim of creating green corridors throughout the metropolitan area. Details of the individual projects can be found at http://www.greenwebsydney.net.au/funding/projects.cfm

The mapping provided on this website displays not only those bush regeneration and revegetation sites which were funded by the Green Web Sydney devolved grants program but also a host of other bushcare sites which have been undertaken either by the local councils or by community and volunteer groups. Many of these sites were completed several years ago whilst others are either ongoing or proposed for the future. For each of these sites, we have endeavoured to provide as much information as possible including vegetation type, who completed the works, when the works were completed and any significant site features.

This mapping will be updated twice a year and should you have any additional sites to add or you would like to amend the details of an existing site please contact the Green Web Sydney project officer at info@greenwebsydney.net.au
